WARM UPS
Warm Ups
These are the Power Points or Notebook programs that can be used for Warm Ups with your students.
1. Duplicate quote or short poem
Print the previous week's warm up and start a new document for the current week.
Type a
weekly quote
.
There is no timer on this one.
2.
High frequency words and phrases
High Frequency Words
or (as the students improve) High Frequency Phrases.
These are set up on a timer. I read them aloud to the students to help satisfy the "typing from dictation" standard. I also show them on the board.
3. Free write can be done off of a picture or topic or the students own choice
Free Write
This is a 5 minute activity to practice composing at the keyboard.
Students are provided with a topic, picture, sound, or story starter to write about for 5 minutes.
4.
Timed writing from any class activity
Timed Writing
I have the students do a weekly timed writing as practice.
The mid-term and end of term timed writings go on their grade based on improvement (for Keyboarding Applications) or speed (for Keyboarding 1).
5.
Word game from collection
Word Game
I have the students do some sort of guided word game activity.
